American International Group(AIG), which has two joint ventures with Tatas -Tata-AIG Life Insurance & Tata-AIG General Insurance, might have exited the Indian life insurance sector after selling its Asian life insurance operations to UK-based Prudential, but it has no such intention for its Indian general insurance business. In fact, AIG s global head Robert Benmosche had paid secret visit to the country to meet officials from the insurance regulator in India, Irda, in Hyderabad and the staffers of AIG in Mumbai.
