Hi
Buying health insurance in India has become extremely convenient and paperless. Infact I purchased my health insurance policy from Max Bupa online; and the only thing I was required to submit was my Id proof. As of now, you do not even need any PAN Card or ID proof depending on the norms of the insurer.

You need to furnish documents like ID proof, residential proof, medical bills, etc. at the time of filing a claim with the medical insurance company.

For parents, relatives and friends who are visiting outside India, visitors health insurance (http://www.visitorshealthinsurance.com/) is a highly recommended form of travel medical insurance required especially for travel across borers to countries like USA or Canada. With the increase in air travel to western nations, visitor medical insurance is highly recommended considering the cost associated with healthcare in North America.
