'Most insured stay in hospitals for under a day or over 10 days'

Bulk of patients covered under health insurance stay in hospital either for less than a day or more than 10 days, data compiled for 2009-10 by Irda revealed. About 32% of the claims paid are less than 5,000 per claim. In fact, about 80% of the claims paid are less than 25,000. As much as 50% of patients covered under health policies stay for two days or less and rest of the patients stay between three and nine days.
