The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (Irda) has launched an online grievance redressal mechanism called the Integrated Grievance Management System (IGMS). The facility can be used to register complaints against insurers (both life and non-life), brokers and intermediaries. These could be related to processing the proposal, servicing a policy as well as claims. A policyholder can register a grievance on the IGMS if he has not received a response from the concerned insurance company or the response is unsatisfactory. The turnaround time (TAT) is specified for each type of complaint and the site displays the date by which the complaint is expected to be addressed.
